Local Spotlight: Revies Unique Gifts is the Best Kept Secret in Schenectady.

Everybody college student should come to this store.  I guarantee you will find something new and intriguing that you want to take home with you.

When you walk into Revies, you are transported to another world.  Not literally, but it’s a really cool store.  The glass work and décor alone is something to marvel at.  Revies features literally everything you could possibly want if you are looking for items to decorate your house or apartment and you want to express yourself.

Their collection of vintage posters will have you feeling like you traveled back in time to a much cooler place where the Rolling Stones and The Beatles still have you deciding whether you want to hold her hand or spend the night together.

Revies has the most extensive collection of Tree Shurts in the capital region.  These now very hard to find garments spark the symbolism of the individuality that each of us would love to express and gives a giant middle finger to the formulaic machine that we are all forced to live in.

Revies supports local artists and glass blowers.  You will be able to find several unique glass pieces that aren’t available anywhere else.  The artistry and soulful detail put into each piece shows and to see the time and concentration put into each piece is worth the trip alone.

Revies has the largest choice of incense I’ve ever seen.  The picture speaks for itself.  There isn’t a man or woman alive that wouldn’t be pleased by the stress relieving aromas available in the back of the store.  With incense always burning in the store as you shop, you are given a euphoric experience even as you browse.

There are over twenty flavors of shisha available to suit any taste, along with hundreds of hookah choices.

Revies Unique Gifts is the best kept secret in Schenectady, but now the secret’s out.  Every time you walk in, you are greeted with a smile and a warm hello from Kelly and the girls.  If you are looking for a truly unique experience that you will remember, then head to Revies.  It’s a hell of a lot more fun than shopping at Sears.

Like Revies on Facebook here:  https://www.facebook.com/ReviesTobaccoAccessories?fref=ts and right now, if you go see Kelly and tell them that Capitaland sent you, you’ll receive 10% off all purchases of $20 or more (excluding tobacco).

Jay St. Video Games Commercial!

This is Capitaland Stuff's First Produced Commercial for our first client, Jay St. Video Games!

Enjoy!!

Local Spotlight: Take a Nostalgiac Journey with Jay St. Video Games

What do Buzz Lightyear, Super Mario, and Darth Vader have in common?  Well, two things.  One, they are all timeless symbols of our youth that are still just as popular today as the day they debuted.  Two, because of that timelessness, your kids will make you spend a lot of money on characters that were cool when you were a kid.  If only, you'd held onto all those video games you had when you were a kid.  Boy, would your kids have a ball if you still had them.  And think of the money you'd save not having to buy all new games featuring the same characters that you grew up with.

Luckily, we have Jay St. Video Games.  Jay St. Video Games features all of the greatest classic games from every system imaginable.  They feature a full line of games from Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Xbox, Nintendo 64, Playstation 1, 2, and 3, and lets not forget about the Wii.

I took my five year old son in there to look around one day and we were able to find Monsters Inc and Toy Story on Playstation 2.  To him, these games are brand new.  They will be to your kids as well.  The best part is that I was able to pick up both games for about $20 total.  The moral of the story is, don't go waste your money on the latest games that easily sell for $60 or even $70 per game.  Go to Jay St. Video Games and you'll get the same satisfaction.  You'll look like a hero and you'll be able to afford lunch too.

You can find Jay St. Video Games in Colonie Center, and also once again in Crossgates Mall where they have just reopened near the Regal Cinema on the lower level.

The best thing about Jay St. would have to be the staff.  They know what they're talking about.  They've played the games, both old and new.  They know what you're talking about when you ask about a game.  They don't just smile and nod like somebody in the Wal-Mart electronics section.  They live and breathe their store and they love sharing that knowledge with you.

They were voted the Number One Video Game store in the 2013 Metroland Readers Pole.  That means that people that actually go out and shop for video games decided that Jay St. gave the best overall shopping experience, the best prices, and pretty much overall awesomeness.

You can find out more about this local walk down memory lane by liking them on Facebook.  They'll give you updates on prices and awesome deals they have going on daily.

One last thing that Buzz Lightyear, Super Mario, and Darth Vader have in common. . .

They're all great ways to use your kids as an excuse to go in.  Take a trip down Jay St.

Be a kid again!

The Grape and Growler is Now Open!

The Grape and The Growler opens in Latham

Wednesday, August 28, 2013
A brand new craft beer and wine bar will officially open its doors in Latham this Friday with a ribbon cutting hosted by the Colonie Chamber of Commerce.
The Grape and The Growler is actually the town's first-ever beer and wine bar. The owners describe the establishment at 155 Wade Rd. as having two sides — the Grape is a modern wine bar and the Growler is a tap house with an extensive beer list.
“We look forward to being good neighbors with the town of Colonie," said co-owners Pete Cusato and Joe Schaefer in a news release. "We welcome the challenges that were presented to us along the way and look forward to making Latham a better place to live."
The menu is typical pub fare, and includes salad and burger combinations, four variations of mac and cheese, sandwiches, wings quesadillas, specialty pizzas and dinner entrees.
Friday's ribbon cutting will be held at 3 p.m. The Grape and the Growler will be open Monday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.

Poetry and Motion at Proctors Theater featuring HBO Def Poet BLACK ICE.

Poetry and Motion is a unique event that allows all who attend to enjoy the sounds of good music and great poetry.
We welcome a large diverse crowd of poets as well as those who enjoy listening to spoken word. We combine this experience with neo soul music, classic R&B and even a little new school.
We encourage all inspiring poets, or someone that just wants to try something new, to get on stage and participate in the Open mic part of the show. This event is classy, sassy, sensitive and silly. You will laugh. You will cry but you won't soon forget the experience.

Lisa Lampanelli coming to Proctors but not for stand-up!

http://www.proctors.org/events/lisa-lampanelli

Lisa Lampanelli makes a departure from her signature “insult” comedy in the  developmental production of her new one-woman show Skinny Bitch: NOT A Stand-Up Comedy Show.
The production, which is written by Ms. Lampanelli and 700 Sundays writer Alan Zweibel, will be helmed by Tony Award-winning® director John Rando. In her first theatrical production, Lisa will reveal the woman behind the comic, and her struggle with food, men and body image.
In turns hilariously funny, surprisingly touching and totally relatable, Skinny Bitch: NOT a Stand-Up Comedy Show will show a side to Comedy's Lovable Queen of Mean that few would guess exists.
Lisa has become a household name as a standout contestant on the fifth season of NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice and for famously roasting everyone from Betty White to Flavor Flav. Lisa appeared in the David Chase-directed feature film, Not Fade Away and is currently starring as a series regular on Bounty Hunters, CMT’s first-ever animated show, airing Saturdays at 10 pm ET/PT.
This Grammy-nominated equal opportunity offender is a regular on late-night television, the Comedy Central Roasts, and is a frequent guest and guest host on Howard Stern's Sirius satellite radio shows. Lisa has also appeared on EXTRA as a guest correspondent, is a frequent guest and co-host on TMZ, and has sold out theaters across the country, including NYC's Radio City Music Hall, the Chicago Theatre, and Carnegie Hall. Lampanelli joined the ranks of comedy greats with her 2009 HBO comedy special, Long Live the Queen, and that same year, released her autobiography, Chocolate, Please: My Adventures in Food, Fat and Freaks. Lisa's greatest hits CD, Equal Opportunity Offender, was released in April 2012.

New Music Festival Coming to Albany!

New Music Festival coming to Albany!

Mayer Hawthorne

Ann Arbor, Michigan native and longtime eclectic DJ/producer Andrew Cohen, onetime member of the rap groups Athletic Mic League and Now On, began recording soul-seeped material as something of a joke, but didn't plan to have it reach beyond his circle of friends and family. Mayer Hawthorne, the pseudonym Cohen used for the songs, eventually took on a life of its own. When a couple of Hawthorne songs were played for Peanut Butter Wolf, the Stones Throw label head was baffled; he initially thought he was hearing re-edits of obscure late-'60s/early-'70s soul singles, not the work of a multi-instrumentalist who laid everything down himself. Subsequently signed to Stones Throw, Cohen debuted Hawthorne with "Just Ain't Gonna Work Out" b/w "When I Said Goodbye," a pair of scratchy and bittersweet tales of heartache, on red heart-shaped 7" vinyl. A 12" featuring a cover of New Holidays' obscure 1969 single "Maybe So Maybe No" followed shortly thereafter, preceding the full-length A Strange Arrangement, released in October 2009. After a live set (Stones Throw Direct to Disc #1) and a couple single releases, Hawthorne released his second album, How Do You Do, for Universal Republic in October 2011.
